Yay! May! Although I think we got our May weather in April, but at least we haven’t got any snow (yet).

Exams are done for the year, and I’ve just started working at my summer work experience job. After going on 7 interviews, I was offered four of those positions. I’m very happy that I didn’t ‘settle’ and take the first one that was offered, because while it may have been an interesting position, I don’t think I would have been happy with it. Plus? This job is paying more, and I get to wear two hats. Also, days off.

I’m going to be working on (mostly) web development over the summer, along with a bit of Java development. There’s a chance of maybe some PowerBuilder, but I doubt it. I think I’m going to be busy enough with the other things. I started on Monday, and I’m very excited as well as still being a bit nervous about the job. I’ve already been drafted onto the IT department’s street hockey team. Our first game is Friday. (OMGWHUT)

… Then again, one of my ‘bosses’ has already asked if I’d be interested in working on any freelance web development stuff that comes his way.

Tonight’s my first hockey game in a while, and I’m excited!

I’ll have to write up a longer post later, going over the crazy that was last term. My marks would have been better if I didn’t have to work, but when the government says I have too much money and therefore don’t need student loans (wait, what?), when I’m broke? Um. Yeah. Work is sort of required.

So midterms started yesterday.

My ‘worst’ exam – the one I was stressing the most about – was first. It’s done. I’m hoping I passed, especially since it’s worth 40% of my final mark. Meep. I just couldn’t study over the weekend. It was HORRIBLE.

I’ve got .Net today at 1pm, which should be easypeasy. It’s an open book exam, and we only have two and a half hours to write a program, so it’s not going to be uber complicated. Yay!

Advanced Java is tomorrow afternoon. I think I remember him saying something about us being supplied a ‘cheat sheet’ for the exam. As far as I know it’s a pen-and-paper exam, so we’ll see how that goes, I guess.

Thursday is my icky day: DBMS at 8:30 and then Network Computing (the Novell half – ugh, Novell sucks) at 2pm. The SQL stuff for DBMS is no problem – just simple selects and table creation, no big. It’s the table normalization stuff that I know I can do, I just can’t explain why/how I do it. That’s what’s got me on assignments for this class, and what will probably get me on the exam. We’ll see now Networking goes.

Friday is going to be a ‘no brainer’ type day, because it’s our Web Development exam. It shouldn’t be too difficult, especially since I’ve done that before. XHTML and CSS. No big deal. Just as long as we don’t have to remember the complete doctype tags at the top of the page.

Friday, apparently, there are a couple of us going to Speedworld after our exam. Zoom zoom!

I should start doing a bit of last minute .Net studying, else get some Java studied for tomorrow. Studying, apparently, is good!

Welcome to September 3, people.

It is day three of class for fall term, my second attended day of classes (I was sick yesterday, boo), and my second term. Scary thing: after this fall term, then winter term, I have my co-op term over the summer. Then one term after that, and I’m done!! Holy crap.

I’m actually not working with my Brownie unit this year, so that will also free up some time. I am so relieved that I get to take a break this year. I was burning out a bit, I think. But anyone who wants cookies, let me know. I have an in.

The Cancercare Dragonboat festival is next weekend, yay! I was going to be steersperson, but I changed my mind. I was not comfortable during the first practice trying to steer us. We almost ran aground. Oops. I’ll stay as a paddler.

School: My schedule is actually not to bad this term. I only have two 8 am starts, the rest are 9 am classes. I’m out early again on Thursday (3pm), late on Tuesday (5pm), and 4pm the rest of the week. I’ve got 6 classes again:

Database Management

Network Administration

Analysis and Design Methods 1

Progamming (.NET Introduction)

Web Development

Programming (Advanced Java)

It’s going to be a heavy term, I think, but at least I don’t have to deal with Accounting (that comes back to haunt me next term), Economics or Business Communication. Yay.

I’m glad I’m back at school. The summer went by way too fast, even though I was an underemployed student. Oh well.

Okay. DBMS class. I should pay attention.

eta: Oops. Typo. Welcome doesn’t start with a ‘D’.

Well, the term is almost done. Today is the last day of classes, and we start exams tomorrow.

Technically, we’ve started exams already, having written done our online Cisco Network Fundamentals exam Monday afternoon. For the amount that I had to study over the weekend, I was satisfied with my mark. Not overly happy with it, mind you, but satisfied. 76.1% is enough to get me the certificate, and possibly a letter.

The second half of our Networking exam is tomorrow – Subnetting. I think I’ve finally got a handle on it, but we’ll find out tomorrow, I guess.

I have the weekend off work, so I’ll be pretty much barricaded in my room for the entire thing studying.

Today was a bit of a waste for getting up and coming here. I’ve done nothing all day except play Poker and Bejeweled on Facebook and found out that I did kind of shitty on the accounting test I forgot about yesterday. I passed, but still.

Just killing time before heading up to Java class. Hopefully he’ll go over the review quickly (as quickly as he can g0, which isn’t all that quick), and then I can get the hell out of here. I’m tired and cranky, and want to go home to put on comfy pants.

Blah. I can’t wait for May 1st.

So, it’s March 31, and exams start April 24.

That means, after today, there is 15 more days of class. April 10 is Good Friday (No Classes), April 13 is Easter Monday (No Classes).

I have 7 exams between April 24 and May 1. Saturday and Sunday are not included in that time.

I have a group project to present to class on Friday, which I am doing by myself, since the other two guys in my preassigned group dropped out. I have a research paper due Friday which I still have to finish researching and write. I have a chapter test tomorrow morning. I have a programming assignment due Monday afternoon that I haven’t even started. I have 3 Brownie meetings to plan. I have to work. I am house sitting over the long weekend. They don’t have wifi, so I won’t be distracted (as much) by the Interwebs. Only the Satellite TV.

To say I’m freaking out is a little bit of an understatment. I’m fairly calm right now, but as it gets into April, I’m sure I’m going to start snapping on people, so I hope they forgive me if I do.

Right now the only bright thing in my life was the fact I blew off school work to go to and hang out with some great friends at another friend’s social on Saturday and ended up winning an 8 gig iPod Touch, some SWEET JBL headphones, and A/V Component cables for the iPod. Oh, and I’m going to the NKOTB concert April 9th. SO MUCH CHEESE, OMG.

I picked up the Watchmen TPB over the weekend.

I have to go out and buy a dress shirt that will go with my new vest (and possibly the pants that go with, too) so I have a nice ‘business-like’ attire for my presentation on Friday morning.

I have to get my resume fixed up and go apply for a couple of jobs.

I can’t not sleep, I can’t not work. The next month is going to be HELL and this is only my first term. Eep.

I seriously need to manage my time better, so I don’t have to freak out on the last day about assignments due. I’m so horrible for this.

Well, I have one assignment (mostly) finished that is due tomorrow, and then two that are due on Wednesday. One of the two that is due Wednesday (my Linux Script for my Operating Systems class) is started and partially done. My business communications assignment isn’t even started yet. I have a feeling I’m not going to be sleeping much over the next two days.

Also? Midterms start next week, and I’m house/dog sitting for someone who doesn’t have wifi and has neighbors that are too greedy and won’t share.

My eyes are bugging me, I think I need to start using my Polysporin drops again. UGH. HATE. Stupid eyes.

In dire need of caffeine, but the Diet Pepsi (so far) isn’t helping. Maybe I need more, or have to switch to a Cherry Coke or something. I swear, by the time I’m done this course, I’m going to be a hard core coffee drinker. Blech.

Okay. Back to Java.

(Save me! *flailure*)

Well, this is week two! I have officially survived the first week of school. It’s been fun, so far. Well, not fun, but I haven’t had to panic about any assignments or anything yet. I’m writing this in my last class of the day on Tuesday which, theoretically, is supposed to go until 5pm. Ugh. This is the long day, which kind of sucks. Every day my classes start at 8am, which, okay. Early, but it’s not 7am. I have two classes until 11am and then a three hour spare until a two hour Java/programming class at 2, followed by Intro to Business Communications.

LONG day.

Thursdays are great because I’m done at 2pm. WOOHOO.

I just realized that I probably mentioned that stuff about my schedule before. Oh well. I blame my broken brain.

I headed over to the mall and wandered around to try and find a replacement for the uber-warm but hurty boots I returned on Friday and actually managed to find a pair that I liked that someone had in my size (Yay for The Bay!) and that were HALF PRICE. Me = AWESOME. Then I went for lunch with Sandi, and came back to school making it just in time for class.

Woo. Holy BALLS it’s cold outside. I swear, if God had balls they’d be frozen solid and would have fallen off it’s so damn cold outside.

But, at least, my feet will be warm.
