No, I’m not looking forward to it, why do you ask?

Came in early to clean my desk off and get some stuff done, but am dicking around on LJ. Heh.

Won’t be online as much over the next two weeks just because I’ll either have someone looking over my shoulder all day or I’ll be looking over someone else’s shoulder all day.

I have to delete TweetDeck and GTalk and a few other programs she won’t need that I’ve installed for my own amusement.

EEE!

I love me some Criminal Minds. I mean, really. I think there are probably two other tv shows I’ve geeked out about this much: SeaQuest DSV, and Stargate: SG1.

I’m also trying to figure out a couple of things about WordPress. I know, on LiveJournal, you can set it that comments for a particular entry are private, or so they won’t be seen unless you’re the owner of the journal. Is there a plugin or any way to do this on WordPress?

One of my aunts, J, is getting married next summer, and was wondering if I could set up a web site that people can go to to RSVP and find out information about what’s going on when and where. She lives just outside of Calgary and they’re getting married at the start of the Stampede, so there is going to be TONS of things to do. I was going to set up a WordPress blog, since that would probably be the easiest thing to do. It’s going to be a super low key affair (she did veto the groom on wearing jeans, though), so I’m not too sure what’s going to be going out by way of invitations. Anyway, she wants people to be able to go online, hit up the RSVP entry and then be able to enter their information (“So-and-So of XYZ is planning on attending with hubby R and Kids S, T, and U.”) and not have anyone be able to get on and scam it. There’s got to be a way to have all of the comments for a particular entry be hidden, and let other comments on other entries be shown.

I’ve got a while – it doesn’t need to be done tomorrow. I just need to figure out how to do it so I can when the time comes.

I went to a friend’s wedding over the weekend: Pictures are here. A blast was had by most/all, and I wish the newly weds every happiness.

… I should probably do some work. This afternoon is just dragging along and I’m as bored as hell.

Yeah, and that someone’s me.

Question: If you’re not going to bother answering pages for phone calls, why the hell would you come into the office? No one knows what you do all day, anyway. If you’re not answering phone calls when people call specifically for you, wth man?

I’m a little cranky.

The long weekend was great – I actually had two whole days off! Not in a row, mind you (Friday, and Sunday), but they were two whole days off! Good Friday, everything was closed, so I hung out and watched Serenity and a disk and a half worth of Criminal Minds with Deena, then went to my parents for Easter dinner. Mmm, turkey. Yeah, I know you’re not supposed to eat meat on Good Friday (or some such), but it was yummy and my parents left for St. Louis, MO on o’ Dark Stupid Sunday morning. Mmm, sacrilige.

Saturday I worked, and we had the entire Manitoba Moose team in the store for a couple of hours, signing autographs, and bagging groceries. OMG, EYE CANDY. I had #38, Greg Rallo helping me bag groceries. He’s a cutie! (Although now knowing that he’s younger than my brother… I’m a creepy old lady! Hee.) It was a fun couple of hours. The store was insane because the last shopping day before Easter is our busiest day of the year. Which seems sort of odd to me, but whatever.

Dog sat Blazer, a chubby chocolate lab Saturday evening, and came home Sunday morning to hang out, finish reading a book I’d only got 10 pages into on Saturday night, then do some laundry and get more Criminal Minds watched. We’re on Season 2, now!

I tried installing Geany under Ubuntu last night, after being reccomended it by a friend/co-worker, and was up until 11:30 before I quit and went to bed. I downloaded Geany, tried to install it, found out I need to install GTK+ first. Downloaded and tried to install that, and found out I needed like, four other things. And for those four other things, I need another half a dozen packages to install. Needless to say, I’m not to pleased. I think I only need a couple more packages and then I’m good. Who knows, though.

There’s a couple of people out of the office today, one’s sick, the other is taking a couple of days vacation, so it’s quiet. There’s probably a lot of people across Canada that have today off as well, but I don’t think anyone in the US has Easter Monday off. Not sure, though. I don’t mind the phones being quiet, because (other than typing this up), I’ve been busy trying to cover for other people and get shit arranged to get shipped out.

Sigh.

Car lease is up not at the end of November/ beginning of December like I’ve been thinking and saying for the past few months, but it’s up January 14, 2009. Which kind of sucks, but whatever. If I’m going back to school in January, that’ll be okay. I hope. Plus, January = possible trip to the Dominican Repiblic for a cousins wedding. I’ve never been anywhere before, so I’m hoping I can save up enough to go. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

I have to get my tax receipt redone for my RRSP contributions for 2007 (March-December), because they effed up, and included another RRSP that I have that was rolled over as a contribution. I would have liked to have been able to claim over $3k in RRSP contributions for taxes (that would have garnered me an almost $800 tax return) but I don’t want it to come and bite me in the ass later. Kind of like what happened last year. I picked up UFile to do my taxes and it took me a grand total of about 30 minutes to do my taxes, and also a hell of a lot cheaper ($19.99 + 12% (or is it 13%?) taxes) than getting the accountant that fucked it up last year ($50). Plus, if I fuck it up, then it’s my own damn fault. But I checked it over with my Mom and it looks like everything’s on the level.

Look! It’s almost time to run away for lunch. YAY! Forgot to bring a lunch today (despite the copious amounts of turkey and other leftovers in my fridge), but I have to run out anyway to deal with my RRSP tax receipt from the credit union.

To the <strike>Accident</strike> <strike>BatMobile!</strike> Accent!<strike>
</strike>

I’m thinking there’s a lot of people that are on vacation because work has been absolutely dead this week. Phones, email, etc, just so absolutely quiet! It’s been crazy. And boring. Which sucks. I know the kids here are on spring break, but still!

Trying to keep an eye on Kerry Burtnyk (Team Manitoba) at the Tim Horton’s Brier. He’s 5-4, and has to win this draw (vs. Quebec) to make it into the semi finals. Right now, they’re in the 7th end and Burtnyk is up 4-3. From what I’ve been hearing & reading he’s been shooting like SHIT this week. Come on, man! Buck up and KICK ASS.

Bored, omg. Still feeling ugh-y from yesterday, with a bit of a headache threatening to claw out through my forehead if it gets worse. Not fun.

Girl Guide cookies arrive today, and I’m heading to pick up my 15 cases (that’s 360 boxes) and head to Brownies. I haven’t really planned anything to do tonight, which sucks. The last two meetings have gone so well! Sigh. I need to get more planning done.

Also going to install Ubuntu on my pc tonight… just have to change some of the partitions around and then redo it. I installed it last night but had to bust up a logical drive for the swap for Ubuntu which left me with a wack load of space that I couldn’t do anything with because I’d already had four partitions. Meh. Hopefully it’ll work out better tonight.

Writer seems to be a slick little program – it’ll import some of your settings as well as let you post to a variety of different blogging platforms. My blog runs WordPress, and I think you can post to LiveJournal, Blogspot and to WordPress hosted blogs, too.

It imported the tags/categories I use on my WordPress blog, but none of the plugin features I’ve got added on (downside?)

We’ll see how this works.

It’s the day after everyone’s favourite Hallmark endorsed Holiday, Valentine’s Day. (Thank god.) It’s Friday! (Woo!) It’s the start of a long weekend. (YES!!!)

Monday is the first ever “Louis Riel Day”. Unfortunately, I don’t know much about Louis Riel, because my Canadian History classes in junior high and high school were way too long ago. But I do know he’s got an entry on Wikipedia and I’m too lazy to go find it and link it here. I’m feeling lazy.

Got a half decent night’s sleep last night, for the first time in a while, but I’m still in sleep debt so … yeah. Wendy’s at lunch didn’t help, either, I’m sure. Oh well. I’m hoping I’m going to be able to get to the gym tonight. I haven’t been to do any cardio since Monday. Tuesday-Wednesday I went swimming, yesterday I had Brownies, so I didn’t go. If I don’t go tonight, I’m totally going tomorrow, either before work, or maybe tomorrow evening.

Sunday I don’t work, but I’ve got Day 1 of a two day First Aid Certification course I have to take for Girl Guides. I have to be there for 9 am, so I don’t even really get to sleep in. Pro: It is just a couple of blocks from me, which means, theoretically I could walk there. Con: It’s costing me $100, which I have to split into two payments because I can’t afford it all at once. Con: I’m not getting paid to work at the Store, so I’m losing money hand over fist. Pro: My unit will now (officially) have someone that doesn’t have an expired First Aid certification. Not exactly Win-Win for me, but it has to be done.

Sunday is also supposed to include a possible get together in the evening, so we’ll see how that goes.

Monday is a Day Off!! I said that already, but it’s a day off and I can sleep in and stay in my jammies all day if I want. I’m excited.

I now have a Build-A-Bear and he’s SO CUTE. Even though he’s got Hello Kitty jammies, I’m still calling him a him, because I am unable to call him a her. Confused yet? Good.

The Awsome Scalzi is auctioning off an original manuscript for his newest book, “Zoe’s Tale”. I wish I could afford to put a bid in on it. How cool would that be? I do have a copy of the Sagan Diaries coming to me. I hope it gets here soon. If you haven’t read the Scalzi, you should. His books are awesome. He’s funny and … awesome. (Okay, I’ll stop fangirling now, kthxbai)

Sleeping in on Monday is going to be so nice. I’ll go to the gym, hang out, do some much needed cleaning around the house… It’s going to be good. Either that, or I’ll sit in my pyjamas all day and watch Stargate: SG1, ‘cuz that’s how I geek. (It’ll probably be the latter, rather than the former, knowing me.)

So this morning when I came in, we couldn’t get online. We could access stuff on our own network, but couldn’t hit anything outside. I reboot all the servers (file, backup, mail, and firewall) and then reset the modem. YAY! Things (seem) to be working good. Except it’s now 3:30 pm and we haven’t received any email (spam included) all day. I’ve rebooted the mail server a couple of times, but nothing seemed to help. Hopefully the server is holding on to any ingoing and outgoing emails and once the server is fixed (if our part time IT guy who’s currently in classes at the university across town makes it in tonight) everything will be set to rights. Unfortunately I’m not sure what else I can do. Oh well. If I did know what to do, then I would probably a) be making a lot more than I am, or 2) be working somewhere else getting paid more than I am.

Anyway, I’ve got a couple of things left to do, so I should probably do them.

I just finished reading it (what, you expect me to work at work?) and enjoyed it muchly. Very much true to the characters of the series and the story does ring true. Despite a couple of spelling mistakes and phrases that made me go ‘Wha?’, me likey.

I like the layout – not too sure if I like the colour, but the layout is definitely interesting.

Anyway, I really should be working. It’s starting to pile up. BOO. >.<
