I’m also trying to figure out a couple of things about WordPress.  I know, on LiveJournal, you can set it that comments for a particular entry are private, or so they won’t be seen unless you’re the owner of the journal.  Is there a plugin or any way to do this on WordPress?

One of my aunts, J, is getting married next summer, and was wondering if I could set up a web site that people can go to to RSVP and find out information about what’s going on when and where.  She lives just outside of Calgary and they’re getting married at the start of the Stampede, so there is going to be TONS of things to do.  I was going to set up a WordPress blog, since that would probably be the easiest thing to do.  It’s going to be a super low key affair (she did veto the groom on wearing jeans, though), so I’m not too sure what’s going to be going out by way of invitations.  Anyway, she wants people to be able to go online, hit up the RSVP entry and then be able to enter their information (“So-and-So of XYZ is planning on attending with hubby R and Kids S, T, and U.”) and not have anyone be able to get on and scam it.  There’s got to be a way to have all of the comments for a particular entry be hidden, and let other comments on other entries be shown.

I’ve got a while – it doesn’t need to be done tomorrow.  I just need to figure out how to do it so I can when the time comes.

I went to a friend’s wedding over the weekend: Pictures are here.  A blast was had by most/all, and I wish the newly weds every happiness.

… I should probably do some work. This afternoon is just dragging along and I’m as bored as hell.

Writer seems to be a slick little program – it’ll import some of your settings as well as let you post to a variety of different blogging platforms.  My blog runs WordPress, and I think you can post to LiveJournal, Blogspot and to WordPress hosted blogs, too.

It imported the tags/categories I use on my WordPress blog, but none of the plugin features I’ve got added on (downside?)

We’ll see how this works.

I have to say that I didn’t find it on my own (because … why would I have?  I never find the cool things on my own.) but found it via one Mr. Warren Ellis.  (he’s warren_ellis on LJ which is where he posted the link to the LJ Crossposter (or ljxp as the developer calls it). (I really should read some of his books – the short fiction he posts to his LJ is really fun.)

Ugh. Okay, I need to get to bed so I can get up and going and not fall asleep after my alarm goes off again this morning. Must get up and brave the cold and the ID10T drivers and get to work!

I’m not sure why, but I’ve been getting so many Spam comments in the past couple of weeks. It’s retarded. I wish I knew how to block ‘em.

Will have to do more research into that.
