Friday! Yay! I don’t have to come here for the next two days! YAY!

I applied online to go back to school near the end of last week. I can’t wait until I get back to school, because I’m really feeling apathy about working here, and that’s never a good sign. I’ve got to be a good little ‘Manda, because who knows what will happen when I’m looking for a reference from someone or other here.

FormerBoss aka Sales Mgr has been in the hospital for, pretty much the past three weeks. He and his family went to Halifax to visit friends, and he ended up coming down with appendicitis while there. He had surgery at 3 am Sunday morning to get his appendix out, was back here on Wednesday, and back in the hospital here on Thursday. Apparently, the surgeon who took his appendix was doing other surgeries before his and wasn’t too keen on doing Art’s, so he was surprised when they woke him up to take him into surgery. During the surgery, they nicked his bowel as well as an artery. Which, I guess, are both complications on the extreme end of the spectrum, but required him to be rehospitalized back here for over two weeks. He’s back home with his family and apparently going to see if he can work full days starting Monday. Considering he’s not able to sit upright for more than 45-60 minutes, a full day is probably not going to happen.

So, the past two weeks I’ve been doing part of his job, which I used to do when he was my boss - entering purchase orders. Fine and dandy, I don’t mind, but our production manager is out of the office this week and next and I have no idea what lead times are for products, so I’m getting dates (”Whenever,”) from my boss and entering the po’s. Plus everything else I do: test reports, phones, filing, faxing, etc. I was printing up packing slips too, until Monday, which I’ve passed back to my boss, because there’s no way I can do everything. I doubt I’m going to get that back from him when Art’s back next week. Oh well.

I went tubing last weekend with some friends at Voyageur’s View, and it was a lot of fun! I always have fun tubing. Except for the fact that we were missing a lot of people this year (only 8 went as opposed to the 15-20 that we usually have) and that I got a nasty wicked sunburn on my shins. I burnt my legs bad enough that when I woke up yesterday I had a nice big blister on my left leg. It got bigger throughout the day and is just gross. My feet are even swollen (i was wearing dock shoes because of the sharp rocks in the river), so I’ve been sleeping with my legs propped up on pillows, which is helping me not get aloe vera gel all over my sheets. I picked up some gauze and polysporin and tape after work and wanted to pop it SO BADLY BECAUSE EW. It popped on it’s own this morning as I was getting out of the shower, so I’ve got two 10×10cm gauze pads taped beside each other on my shin. I need to come up with a better story than “I got sunburnt bad enough I blistered and it popped.”

Work at the store tomorrow morning will be interesting because I haven’t worn long pants since sometime last week. NOT FUN. Owie.

I’ve got some family from Calgary coming into town this weekend for a couple of weeks. It’ll be nice because I haven’t seen the cousins for a couple of years. I’m excited and hope I’ll be able to spend some time with them.

… Right. Work. I should probably do some of that.

Way too much stuff. Did I even look at this junk before I packed it all up the first time? I don’t think so.

I move this week. The DayJob is on shutdown this week, which is great, because then I’m not stressing out nearly as much as I would be if I had to work. I’ve been going through all my papers and crap that I have before repacking/reorganizing it in preparation for the move. I’m not sure how much friend-help we’ll be getting because we’re out on Thursday and D’s into her new place on Friday. I’m hoping to have all my big stuff gone by Wednesday night at the latest.

Yeah. I’ve got way too much crap. I’m not sure where I’m going to be putting it all. I’ve gotten rid of a metric buttload of clothes that don’t fit any more. I’ve already dumped a giant box full of papers (mostly notes from when I was in university?!?!) into the recycle bins. I still have a bunch of crap to go through and pack.

The thing that’s really confusing me: I’ve got two cd’s that are missing their cases, and I’ve got three cases that are missing cds. Plus, I’m missing at least one CD set (Les Miserables 10 year anniversary concert double CD set), which I’m not too happy about. I found a Rascal Flats cd mixed in with mine - the cd not the case, which would belong to the roommate that’s already moved out.

I’ve found my old student IDs from Red River College and the UofM. Both pictures make me laugh - SO FUNNY OMG. Hee.

Um. Yes.

I’ve done a bunch of running around today. Chiropractor appointment first thing this morning, then I went over to my parents place (home of my soon to be mine again room), helped my dad set up my new Ikea desk (ZOMGIKEAYAY!), came home and had lunch with M (and organized/packed my cds), then picked up D, took her to get her ’scrip filled then to work. Got an oil change and came home. Laundry is in the wash, and I think I might go down and make me some dinner. YUM. I <3 food. Tonight is more sorting/packing/etc-ing.

I wish I could wiggle my nose and everything be done.

I’m excited that I get two long weekends in a row - Monday is a holiday, and then I’m also taking the Friday off to go down to Red Lake Falls for tubing. The sites are booked, and my ride is arranged. SO MUCH FUN TO BE HAD YAY! :) Plus plus also and - SHOPPING. YAY!

I just finished faxing around 50 order confirmations (with our shutdown notice) to customers. That took about 30-45 minutes. I just emailed 5 customers the same.

It’s the end of the month, so of course, to make the month’s sales look good, they (production & the GM) decide to invoice a whole metric ASSLOAD of orders, which means I have to add them back on so they appear on various schedules, and such. I think I have at least 100,000$ worth of stuff I have to add back on. Which will keep me from printing up packing slips for orders that are getting shipped out today.

My shipping clerk (who’s awesome and great, btw), is leaving at noon to go and spend some time with visiting family/friends. She’ll be back tomorrow about noon, but if I don’t get the paperwork out to her before she leaves, that means I do all the shipping documents. Which is not so bad, since I used to do up the shipping docs, but I also have to call various carriers for pick ups. Also, not quite as bad, but a couple of months ago, I forgot to call someone and was here until about 5:30 waiting for them to squeeze us in.

Our sales coordinator (my old boss) is leaving early today because he and his family are flying east to visit his wife’s best friend and her family in Halifax, because they moved out there a month or so ago. He’ll be back around the middle of next week, but that doesn’t really matter since we’re shut down next week. Thing is: I have no sales coordinator this afternoon or tomorrow.

I’ve heard rumour that the engineering manager won’t be in tomorrow, either. GM and her lackey probably won’t be. I’m not going to hold my breath that my boss will be, either.

Busy busy busy. Gah. I hate being redonkulously busy.

Okay, I got stuff to do and no time to do it. <strike>To the Batmobile!</strike> I’m so going to the LC tomorrow and getting me some coolers. Mmm, vodka.

I have to say, this hasn’t been the best weekend on record as of late.

Last weekend was great - my aunt and her fiance were in town for the weekend and I had the entire weekend off, and got to meet the guy. Hung out with my family all weekend and, yeah, that was nice. My brother arrived in town on Sunday evening (after riding the Harley from BC), and is leaving Tuesday.

This past week was just weird. Friday night I went and saw Hellboy II with friends and, hey, it’s awesome. Go see it. Much fun. Saturday morning I worked, then had pizza at Mom & Dad’s, then went out to the King’s Head pub for my friend Melanie’s Going Away party. She’s moving to Australia for at least a year, and who knows where she’ll go after that. It was a good time (except for the fact I didn’t know anyone there besides Mel until Maria showed up after work), and many, many tears were shed when people were leaving. I’m going to miss that girl so much. We don’t hang out a whole lot any more, but the friendship is timeless - no matter how long it’s been since we’ve seen each other last, we’re all caught up in minutes and everything’s peachy keen. I can’t believe she’s leaving on Friday and damn, I’m going to miss her so much. But, bright side: I’ll have a place to stay if/when I ever make it to Melbourne.

Plus plus also and on my way to work this afternoon, I drive past my friends’ Mom’s house and there’s a bunch of emergency vehicles in the area, and it looks like smoke’s coming from the area of her house (the house is on a funky little cove so I couldn’t tell for real). Called Stacy’s cell, it went to voicemail, then I called the house and got her roommate to wake her up. I got her to call her Mom and see if she was okay. Apparently the hot water tank exploded and the house caught on fire. They had four cats, Shadow, Scully, Thebes and Thumbelina, and only Shadow, the oldest at, like, 28 years old, was the only one that survived, because he was sitting on Stacy’s mom’s lap and she carried him out. I guess the damage is bad enough that the entire place has to be gutted and rebuilt. Everyone’s okay. Her mom was the only one home and just suffered some minor smoke inhalation, but she’s fine. She’ll be living with Stacy and her roommate for the next few months, until they get everything renovated.

I used to call Stacy’s mom Mom when I was in high school - I was over at their house ALL the time.

Gah. I’m just not in the right frame of mind to deal with Monday right now. Can I just go to bed tonight and be able to stay there for the next few days? I’m really feeling like I’m about to cry. It’s crazy.

Okay, enough emo-me. I’m going to crawl into bed with a book and read for a while.

So, I get to work yesterday and the parking lot is nearly deserted, except for a couple of cars, two of the managers and two other employees. Apparently, some time over the weekend (I guess) the large, walk-in, industrial oven which had a bunch of buckets filled with in-house batched epoxy that we use to make some of our products out of, shorted. That means that the temperature maxed out and the buckets of chemicals inside started to BURN. When people got here Monday morning, the office and the plant was full of noxious, toxic smoke. I’m not entirely sure what we use in our epoxies, but whatever it is, the smoke isn’t good.

(A few months ago, something similar happened. That time it was just some random chemicals in an oven, and the office stank for a week afterwards. This time, though, it was about $15,000 worth of material.)

There are fans and stuff around the office, where apparently, it was the worst, because the office has no real airflow, and the oven where the buckets of epoxy were is right beside it. I guess, when you came in the front door yesterday morning you couldn’t see really the back of the office (about 30-40 feet away) for the black smoke.

So, there is someone in cleaning out the duct work in the office, as well as wiping everything down. Not sure why they’re wiping everything down while the guys are cleaning the ducts, but whatever, what do I know?

I had an impromptu day off yesterday, which was nice. I went and donated blood for the first time in a while (I bled in < 4minutes! I’ve never done that before and was half-expecting to fall over and pass out the moment I stood up. But I didn’t! Yay me!), went and had lunch and hung out with a friend I haven’t really hung out with for a while. She’s preggo and is due within the next month. She’s got two more weeks of work, and then is off on her maternity leave. Was thinking of going and helping my friends build their fence, but by the time I left Dawn’s place, it was like… 5:15 and I was heading over to the gym to go swimming with my Mom around 7, so there was really no point.

Back at work today, and I was kind of half-hoping that we wouldn’t be able to work today. But here we are. Office doesn’t stink, but I’m not feeling too hot. We don’t have the air conditioning on or anything (because they’re cleaning the vents), so I’m hoping it doesn’t get too much warmer because I’ll start getting uncomfortable. We’re going to eat lunch outside, because … damnit, fresh air, which I’m hoping will help my dizziness, but am not betting on anything because I felt (mostly) fine until we lost power for 15 minutes and went outside to get out of the dark.

I’m rambling. I blame the chemicals.

It’s Friday, and I think maybe I should have stayed home today, rather than yesterday. Work is a little harder to fortify than home is, what with all the doors and big windows and stuff. Then again, we do have a lot more tools and big heavy pieces of metal to smash the zombies with. I think we’ll do just fine.

Mom and Dad seem to be fine - their offices are a little less exposed than mine. Mom’s upstairs and has thick metal doors that you need passcards to unlock. Dad is below ground and they do have a fleet of news vans that are underground that they can get out with. I’m hoping none of the reporters tries to go and get the exclusive, and inadvertently gets themselves eaten, and gives them access.

Too bad Sean’s not here - that Armed Forces training has got to be good for something. I got a txt from him that he’s squashing them in his work truck.

Ewww. There’s going to be Zombie guts all over my new desk, damnit. It’s NEW and that smell will never come out. Ew.

I’m stressing liekwoah right now about camp (and work, incidentally), tired because I was running around like a chicken sans tête all evening getting everything ready (I’ve already realized I’ve forgotten one thing, but it’s not a big deal), and wondering if we’ll actually get to camp. I’m really hoping that the weather will maybe be crappy tonight and then gorgeous for the rest of the weekend. Pleeeeeeeeeease. I really want to do this camp, despite my stress levels being up there. I don’t want to have to postpone-then-cancel-because-I-can’t-reschedule again this year like I did last year.

It’s raining now, so hopefully the weather will get it out of it’s system and be nice for the rest of the weekend.

Cross your fingers that I won’t have to come home early, please?

It’s the day before I head out to Brownie Camp for the weekend. I’m panicking a little bit, because while I haven’t done a whole LOT of planning for this camp, this is the first camp since I’ve been a guider, that I’ve actually been in charge of something.

Went and picked up the food for three units last night, and will hopefully be able to return a couple of things next week to help keep the costs down. I have to go and pick up my parent’s cooler tonight and a couple of other last minute snacky things. I have to pack all of my stuff, get my car organized and ready to go, because I’d like to be able to leave straight away from work. We’ll see how that goes. Which means I’ll have to get up early enough tomorrow morning to pack the cooler along with the rest of the food into my car. And have enough room to transport myself, my roommate (if she comes home tonight) and my friend/coworker to work. I think I should be okay. We’ll see.

Tonight and tomorrow is going to be wicked crazy-busy. AUGH!!!

Um. Yeah.

I’ve got a birthday coming up on Tuesday. Plans for shenanigans are to go and BBQ at a friend’s place next Friday night, followed by a ROCKBAND!!!!! Party. I have to work at 8:30 on Saturday morning, but then Saturday night will be all girls night at the bar. I’m excited!

I just ordered two pairs of gloves (and a pair of socks) from Sock Dreams, and I’m so excited. I hope my order arrives before the weekend, because I’d like to be able to wear one pair of the gloves on Saturday, because it might look good with one of the tops I’m thinking of wearing. Or else they’ll just look silly and I won’t wear them.

I got a new desk at work, and we’ve painted the whole front office, as well as rearranged EVERYTHING. It looks really good and like a real office, too! Kinda crazy!

I’m out.

Um. Yes. I’m wired on an iced capp I got from Tim Horton’s with/for breakfast so this’ll be totally random, have no flow whatsoever and if there is any segues? It’ll be a stretch to call ‘em segues.

First thing: I’m moving back into my folks house at the end of July. Our lease is up July 31st, and we were planning on moving anyway. Plus, if I’m going back to school in January ‘09, which it’s pretty much a 90% chance that I am, I won’t be working full time and don’t want to have to get a larger student loan to help cover rent as well as my tuition & books. I’ll have my tiny room back, which, since I have a bigger bed, I want to downsize and get rid of my giant desk and get a small computer desk, I need to go through the stuff I have at the apartment and get rid of a bunch of crap. Like clothes. I’ve got so many clothes that I can’t fit right now it’s not funny. BOO.

Second thing: I’m signed up with Alli and her cousin to take a Beginners Running course, starting at the end of June. I’m excited! I’ll also get properly fitted for running shoes, so hopefully they won’t cost me too much. Stupid funny sized feet. Either that or they’ll maybe let me pay in instalments so I don’t have to put it on the credit card I probably shouldn’t have. Hee.

HYYYYYYYYYYYPERZOMG.

…. Wow. I totally forgot about this entry. Um. It’s Thursday now, not Wednesday, and I’m definitely not feeling as good today as I was yesterday. A general feeling of Ick most likely brought on by the fact I haven’t been asleep before 11pm this week. I’m a wimp and need my approximately 8 hours of sleep if my heath is not going to crash. Last night I didn’t fall asleep until after midnight sometime. My alarm went off at 6 am, so… yeah. < 6 hours of sleep isn’t good. Tummy is icky and my throat is feeling raw. I was planning on biking to Brownies tonight (which is not actually Brownies, but a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser put on by the Guide & Pathfinder units that I invited to share our space after they got kicked out of theirs), but I’m not sure anymore.

I should bike to the meeting (honestly, it’s not that far from my home), because I haven’t been to the gym in ages and I’ll be nomming on yummy pasghetti, and, apparently, brownie sundaes for desert. Mmm, calories.

I’m still excited to start the running class with Alli & Colleen, but less bouncy about it today.

I’m bad and buying my lunch today. Bought breakfast too, (same as yesterday) because I have no cereal and didn’t make my lunch last night and didn’t have the time (or energy) to make it this morning.

Wah. Stupid throat. Maybe I’ll skip the dinner and just stay home, watch Criminal Minds from last night and go to bed super early. No, I really should go, because I’ve got permission slips and junk for my Brownie parents for Camp in a couple of weeks, and I want to see all parents before we start next week’s meeting so we can chat about the camp.

Okay, lunch time, I hope.

I’m up way past my bed time, considering how late I was up last night and how much sleep I didn’t get.

Three of my friends stopped by last night, surprising me with an impromptu Margarita Party! We had the Margarator, a bottle of mango rum, and some strawberry daiquiri mix (and ice). SO MUCH YUMMY. Needless to say, the rum is gone. We played some texas hold’em poker, and I won! I won nothing, but I was the chip leader. Hahaha.

I also borrowed Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang from M, who was the co-instigator of the night’s festivities. If you haven’t seen this movie, you MUST SEE IT. Another movie where Robert Downey Jr. is EFFING AWESOME. My favourite line: “Don’t quit your gay job.” So much win. I think I’ll have to pick it up and then watch the movie with the director/RDJ/Val Kilmer commentary.

Um. Yes. Mother’s Day is tomorrow, and I actually don’t work - this is the second Sunday in a row where I haven’t had to work, but also the second Tuesday coming up where I’ve had to work both jobs. Sigh. Plus she’s got me scheduled to start at 5 pm, when my availability has me available to start at 5:30pm, as it always has had since I’ve started there. Whatever.

Mom & Dad told me not to buy them gifts for Mother’s/Father’s/Birth days this year, because of the impending cousin-wedding in the Dominican Republic in January ‘09. I’m trying to save up to go to that, and they told me to use the money that I’d be spending on them to toss that into my trip account. I’m going to make Mom a Mother’s Day card in the morning, I think, and probably bang off her Birthday card, too. Her birthday is the 15th of May, so two things in one week. That’s okay, I love me my Mommy.

Looks like I’ll be moving home at the end of July - our lease is up July 31, and if I’m going back to school in January (the possible new job hasn’t come through), I’m not going to be able to afford tuition, books, rent, food, etc. It’ll be definitely cheaper in the long run, but I can already tell I’m going to miss the freedom. I’ll like being home for some things (CHEAP RENT!!), but I can’t sit on the couch and do nothing. Heh.

Anyway, it’s late. I’m going to bed.
